Evening Dresses: Don’t be Afraid of Color!

Chances are, you don’t get to wear an evening dress more than a few times each year. In fact, most women don’t get to wear an evening gown more than a handful of times throughout their lifetime!

Which means, when you do get invited to an occasion that calls for an evening dress, such as a wedding, a prom or another formal event, you’ll definitely want to make the most of it.

An evening dress must have a great fit. That’s the most important thing. It’s true for any item of clothing – well fitting clothes always look great while ill-fitting clothes look sloppy – but this is especially true for evening wear.

Another good way to make sure you look smashing in your evening dress is to make a statement with color. Colorful evening dresses show confidence. While black is a true classic and always a safe choice, and metallic colors such as gold evening gowns and silver evening dresses are festive and elegant, wearing a colorful evening dress when almost everyone else will be likely dressed in black demonstrates style, boldness and a true fashion sense.

Make sure you choose a color that flatters your natural coloring – cool shades such as a royal blue evening dress for cool (pink-based) skin tones, and warm colors such as an orange evening dress for warm (yellow-based) skin tones.

Of course, neutral colors such as true red work beautifully for every skin tone. A full-length, red evening dress makes a truly bold statement and is exceptionally flattering. Get one for your next big event!
